Ascende is dedicated to providing the latest and greatest technology to our employees, including on-site technology support. In exemplifying our value of nimbleness and adaptive nature, we also embrace a paperless work environment, provide many employees with laptops, BlackBerry devices and iPhones, have incorporated iPads into the workplace and are exploring other emerging technology for client presentations.
We offer courses through Ascende University to develop our employees’ skills and knowledge. Courses range from one to six weeks in length and encompass the basics of group benefits, plan types, benefits administration and how Ascende supports them. Specific job training is provided by the employee’s team.
Ascende University also provides ongoing advanced training and continuing education. These courses are open to all employees and many include Continuing Education (CE) credit hours toward satisfaction of licensing requirements.
The Sherpa Program is a 90-day informal “buddy” program that helps new hires transition into the firm. This voluntary program typically kicks off with an introductory phone call from the Sherpa to the new hire and includes opportunities for them to meet other Ascenders, such as through our New Hire Mixer. Another benefit of the program is that it creates a safe and inviting environment to ask questions.
We support the success and growth of all employees by conducting electronic performance reviews twice each year via our customized evaluation tool, PATH, that allows for collaborative, two-way communication between employees and supervisors regarding each employee’s development needs and professional goals. Because Ascende is a value-driven organization, our performance review process is based on our seven core values—ASCENDE.
Ascende promotes a learning environment by offering on-site instructor-led training for our employees. We also support several additional avenues for those seeking professional and technical training opportunities.
